Throughout the year plant life of all types produce a dazzling display of patterns, shapes and colors. These have inspired artists down through the years to produce countless paintings and photographs, mainly in “Still Lifes.” But while Still Lifes may hold great artful beauty, the subject mater is dead. The beauty of living plant life, in an outdoor setting, is more vital, dynamic and sparkling. Shoots of emerging new growth and leaves convey the plant’s sense of excitement in its newfound vitality. Later, there are colorful buds, and their subsequent flowers, and finally the fruiting bodies that contain the seeds offspring. These seem to express the plants joy in its potential of creating new life.
